Series 5 – Mindful Moments with Miss Harrison

Series Title: Problem Solving and Emotional Resilience

In Series 5, children are guided through strategies for facing everyday problems with calmness, confidence, and compassion. Each episode helps pupils recognise different types of problems, understand their feelings about them, and develop simple steps for finding a way forward. With a strong focus on self-regulation, positive thinking, and asking for help, this series empowers children to face challenges rather than avoid them.

Episode Guide:

  1. Understanding Problems – Noticing When Something Feels Tricky
Children learn what a “problem” is and how it can make them feel inside. They begin recognising when something needs solving.

  2. Big Problems, Small Problems – Learning the Difference
Pupils explore the idea that not all problems are the same. They practise sorting “big” and “small” challenges to understand what kind of help might be needed.

  3. Finding a Way Forward – Steps to Solving a Problem
This episode introduces a step-by-step problem-solving plan: pause, name the problem, think of ideas, try a solution, reflect, and adjust.

  4. Speaking Up Kindly – Sharing Problems with Others
Children practise using calm, kind words to explain what’s wrong—at home, with friends, or in class—so others can understand and help.

  5. Helping Hands – The Joy of Supporting Others Emotionally
Pupils reflect on how it feels to both give and receive emotional help. They explore the idea that kindness, listening, and care are powerful forms of support.

  6. Our Emotional Toolbox – Reflecting on All the Skills We’ve Learned
In the final episode, children revisit all the emotional tools from Series 1 to 5 and reflect on how far they’ve come in recognising, managing, and responding to emotions.

Core Aims of Series 5:

  • Teach a structured approach to problem-solving

  • Build resilience through understanding and managing challenges

  • Strengthen communication and help-seeking skills

  • Encourage children to support others with kindness and empathy

This series is ideal for pupils learning how to become calm, kind problem-solvers with confidence in their emotional abilities.
